Chinese? porcelain with figures doing martial arts
« on: August 09, 2015, 02:55:22 AM »
This is a bit different in my limited experience, it is a plate with a scene of what looks like 3 people fighting. The plate measures 7 1/2" across appears to be hand painted. The glaze and the plate are quite heavy. It appears to be hand turned due to the inconsistent form, you can feel bumps and waves in the piece. Also there is the tell tale nipple in the middle of the plate. It has a thin blue line on either side of the base ring. There are a couple tiny nicks in the base ring and when looked at through a loop it almost makes the exposed porcelain seem glass like.

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Pete

From the decoration, and the base especially, I'd say Japanese.
