Michael Andersen Dog
« on: October 09, 2007, 10:06:11 PM »
I think this dog is post-1950, but I'd like to find out more if possible.  It has a gunmetal glaze with a green tone and is incised 157.2 or 137.2.  There's also an F, and I'd love to know its meaning.

It's well incised, but that second number is just oddly shaped.  Wait a minute.  Looking at it from a distance, it may actually be 1562. There are some oddities in the writing style, some disconnections between the lines.  What I thought was the upper part of a 7, may actually be the upper line of a 5...which I thought was missing.  Then, what I thought was a . actually becomes the lower part of a 6.  And this is starting to sound like code.

It looks like 1562 to me too.
Cheers!

Forrest, do you think it may have been overpainted?  The little triangle is very reminiscent of Royal Dux - if you scratch the triangle slightly, is it pink clay underneath?  Does it have anything on the triangle?
