Title: Really pretty Cup & Saucer Set

Hi Everybody,

Need a little help, here.  I got these lovely Cup and saucer sets from an estate sale.  I have no idea who the maker is, pattern, what its worth, and all that good stuff.  Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

The cups are three footed. It has kind of a gold speckled trim.  I got 10 of these.  There are no markings to indicate maker.

Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't have thought it was English - never seen one here. Maybe Japanese - there's one here (http://www.tias.com/8731/PictPage/1922942192.html) and here (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pottery-glass/Porcelain-pottery/Asia/Chinese/auction-141389032.htm). I think Tasco is also Japanese. I also found mention of Minton teacups with three feet but no pictures. I would guess the Japanese ones are based on them

Are yours handpainted or transfers? I would guess transfers with hand-applied gilding and probably mid 20th century

Any marks to the underside? 

Shape is very continental - German possibly, and the gilding rather Edwardian.  It would have been made as a display / cabinet piece I would think with those feet, imitating something rather older.

Christine, don't forget transfer printing has been about since the early 19th century, so even if it is transfered it could be early 1910 or so.

I wasn't saying it was mid-century because it might be transfer printed, more because of the style of transfer and the duo-tone plus black look, i.e. not four-colour printing.

I've also seen that "spray" gilding on 50s/60s type pieces. Ten of them probably means they weren't cabinet pieces as well
