Title: Midwinter giraffe
Post by: Anne E.B. on May 04, 2008, 04:43:20 PM
This little piece really surprised me because I didn't know Midwinter made anything other than tableware ???  A Google search on makers' marks showed that the mark was used by Midwinter in 1955.  The giraffe is 6" high and quite delicate.  Talk about coincidence, my OH just received a 'thank you' card from a neighbour the day before I bought this  - with a giraffe on the front :o ;D

Anyone know about their animal range please?  Was it shortlived?  I can't find any other examples.

TIA

I suspect it is very rare. I don't think I've ever seen any Midwinter animals.

Seems they did tigers, lions, dogs, swans, lambs... and so on Anne. He's a super giraffe!  More animals here on eBay (http://pottery.listings.ebay.co.uk/Midwinter_Decorative-Ornamental_W0QQdfspZ1QQfclZ3QQloglZ0QQsacatZ70067QQsocmdZListingItemList)
