Title: ARTIST SIGNED VASE M. DALY
Post by: gemmacler on September 13, 2008, 05:34:21 PM
Hi there
Would appreciate help with this vase. It is 8.25 high and 3.5 wide, cream inside and out, design on front only as shown, silhouette tree against a mountain with moon, sky is palest pink, artist signed bottom right M.Daly. It looks like the bottom had marks but they have worn away, there are 2 incised letters Y and either A or V, the vase is old, it dates from the 1920's at least but could be as early as 1900 maybe.
Any thoughts gratefully received, thanks.

M Daly seems to have worked for Rookwood in Cincinnati, Ohio, around the turn of the 19th century, see here (http://www.kovels.com/priceguide/kovels_rookwood/1996/vase/1501219.html) for a starter for 10
