Hello,
Over the last 6 years, I've spent quite a few hours looking through books & searching the net for information on this vase but have not had any luck with an identification. This is especially frustrating as the vase is marked, has an unusual glaze and an unusual shape; all of which generally lead to an ID.
The vase has free-hand impressed markings on the base of what appears to be a G or a 6, then a blank space, then what looks like 66 or 60 with U.S.A. beneath. The vase measures 7" tall, 3-1/2" in diameter at lip and is 5-1/2" in diameter at widest. The glaze is an excellent speckled orange red & dark gloss and three stint firing marks can be seen on the base.
Any ideas as to the maker would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Sincerely, Blake

Hi Blake and WELCOME.. :cheerleader:
Nice vase, it kinda reminds me of the glazes style on BMP even though it is not. Could it be Haeger? Not sure if they were all marked, or if labels were also used...
I was wondering if you could (still) get a closer pix....and try this hint for pic: http://www.yobunny.com/pottery/index.php?topic=10544.0 as maybe we can figure out the letters/numbers for sure...
Try that, and give us another pix, closer. Look forward to it.

Dear antiquerose123, Thank you for your reply. I tried to get some shots as you described. I had the best luck using pencil lead to fill in the slight grooves of the letters & numerals. I hope these will help.
Sincerely, Blake

Try Royal Haeger, they sometimes only marked their wares with a number and U.S.A
i had a piece that looked similar to yours, they are still in exsistence.

Along shot, but it may help.

Dear Sue C, I have a copy of "Haeger Potteries through the Years" by David Dilley and have gone through it cover to cover at least 3 times with no luck. I've also checked all the Haeger sites available on-line and struck out. Please let me know if you have any other ideas.
I noticed that you are in Great Britain. I have another post titled "Need ID of Vase with Strange Mark" under the "What's My Pottery" section of the Forum. I'm pretty sure the vase is from the U.K. I would really appreciate it if you could take a look and see if you might recognize it.
Thank you!
Yours, Blake

I will take a guess here - maybe Shawnee?? Or American Haeger ?
http://www.rubylane.com/shops/firesidetreasures/item/8306 (Shawnee)
http://www.rubylane.com/shops/pipedreamers/item/RL2080 ( Haeger - this one has sort of the same mottled glaze....????)
Here is a link to 5 pages of some pictures of some American pottery. Anything jump out?
