Check this old washboard out. Have you ever seen one like it ?

That's lovely, the sort of thing we see here of that sort age is "factory" (in it's loosest sense) made. Any hand carved washboard would likely be much older. It's not so far to the "shops" in the UK

Iam not sure I understand. Are you saying this is not old and new piece ? Factory made ? or Handmade ? Was it really made in 1899 ? Thanks !

I'm saying it's old and handmade and that we would be unlikely to see anything like it in the UK. There isn't a very big tradition of carving at home here, probably partly because communities were/are relatively close together so it's easier to buy what you need.
Washboards found in the UK dating from the end of the 19th century would probably have been made commercially

I see, ok thanks. I bet it will be hard to find one like it to compare. Origin and value is what I would like to know. I think it is German. It was bought at an auction that had a lot of German and French antiques.

I have a old (Canadian) washboard hanging in my bathroom, with brass (?) Why go out and by art, when your old antiques can be the Art? ;D
