Title: Can you ID this Ceramic Owl?
Post by: wiggy131 on June 29, 2009, 05:12:32 PM
Hi,
I'm new to pottery yo bunny. I was wondering if anyone can ID this owl, I can't seem to find the cockerel mark.
Cheers
Vickie ;D

Hi Vickie and welcome to the Pottery Board. :)

I don't recognise your cockerel mark and a search through both versions of Lang's Pottery Marks and one version of Gooden's British Pottery & Porcelain Marks has turned up nothing either.

Perhaps someone else on the board might recognise it though...

He's probably continental Europe because of the crossed sevens. Maybe Italy. What is he made of, china or earthenware?

Dear Anne & Lustrousstone,
Thank you for your reply, I have also looked in all my books as well, and it has turned out nothing! Anyway - he's made out of China.
Thanks again
Vickie :nah:

That was my exact thought too, it hoots Italian, I mean it screams Italian.

I have looked on this site...

...Maybe it is 'Galvani' as they seem to have marks with G and a cockerel?

Another good site for Italian marks is...
