Title: unusual mushroom teaset, could it be ITALY made
Post by: lmj on August 05, 2009, 09:07:08 PM
I have come across this delightful Tpot creamer and sugar bowl,i have never seen anything like it,the base has tri kiln marks but i cannot make out the Nos indented into the base of each item, there is a bit of age to the set but i do not know of what age, does anyone recognise the set as the Nos could be the word Italy...lynn

Hi and Welcome  :cheerleader: :cheerleader:

I will try to find some pics similar, and see if we can go from there:

Also, just a wild guess here - I wonder if they might be molds from a ceramic class, and the number on the bottom  :o a mold number....

If we could get a pic of this bottom it might help...can you try getting less glare on on the bottom...

Hi Lynn, these are lovely but I think the silence means no-one known what / who they are.  :boohoo:  The dots on the base puzzle me.

Hi all. This set reminds me of one my wife used to own, except hers was lily-flowers rather than mushrooms, by a Japanese company called 'Otagiri Designs' and dating back to the 1980s.
Hope this is of some use.

No no luck, the site i looked at had mushroom type things but of a more garish design mine are quite subtle but of really good detail,it would be nice to find out where and who made them so i can leave a note in the teapot to tell my kids not to throw them away when I'm just a figment of their memories thanks for the interest though as i think the ceramicist is amazing and they look great in my 180 year old welsh cottage,so you can see why i love these pieces..regards Lynn

Can you try a closer pix, taken at an angle maybe under a bright light to cause a bit of shadow......or outside,  and turn it so that the number appear better while taking a pix...

See how that works...
