Title: Fab red plastic flanged perfume bottle - ID = Goya Omen
Post by: Anne E.B. on August 30, 2009, 07:28:08 PM
Fab design plastic perfume bottle holder.  The glass bottle inside can be pushed out, and the top just screws on.  Unfortunately the label that was once on the base, is just a smudge.  The perfume's a bit 'heady' and not really my taste, but I only bought it because I just loved the shape, and just wish that it were all made from glass.

Any ideas what the perfume might be please?  (Just sprinkled some onto the screen ;D)  May be someone will recognise the bottle.  I think it might be quite oldish, judging by the state I found it in before it was cleaned.  I'm thinking may be around the 70s, around the time Carlton Ware did that flanged range http://www.retroselect.com/Carlton%20Ware/Carlton%20Ware%202.htm and similar style Scandinavian (plus others) glass around the same period.

To me it scream DECO...the design, and the colors....but then I could be wrong too.  So how do you describe those rings, as spheres?

Not too sure what to call them, but to me they look like discs.  The clever thing is, if you look at it from a different angle to that shown, i.e. from above, it just looks like a sphere.  I don't think its very old, but could be wrong.  The plastic seems 'modern', compared to some old plastic items that I've had, and the screw top appears modern too.  I'll  never use the perfume - its a bit too pong-whiffy for me :thd:, but it just looks decorative and a fab. design.

I can't smell it from up here Anne, maybe you need to splash a bit more on. ;)

It looks very 1950s in design but I don't recognise it at all... love it though!

Hard to google things sometimes when you do not have the *foggiest* way to describe them...spheres, rings, circles, discs....

Looks modern, say after the 1970s, pic of label would help as even if illegible can give a clue to dating.

Ooooh I've found similar with a black cap! Goya Omen!!! LINK (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-GOYA-OMEN-perfume-essence-ribbed-plastic-case-over-bottle-sadly-empty-/161169581414?nma=true&si=HFFT9IJN6xIdJkEcHCOW8VR3rmc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557)

Image is in the description not at the top!    :cheerleader:

And a Google image search for Goya Omen perfume brings up red and black lid versions.

Which dates it to after 1960. This bottle shows in 1970s ads, also in Orange if ad not faded

Well spotted! So now we know
Unfortunately I don't know what's happened to my bottle.  I suspect my daughter nabbed it.  She has some of the red flanged Carlton Ware kitchenalia and probably took a liking to the perfume bottle because of its design.
