Title: Chrome Hood Ornament - Vintage

Hi, I just bought this vintage hood ornament.  I like the old look of chrome items.  The guy figured it might be from around 1953, or 1954.  Looks a like Deco-ish to me to.

It is about 9 inches long  :o  ;D  :blush: so I took a pic of by a pen just to give some comparison.  I did pay $22 bucks for it (they wanted $40...I gaggled them down...) but then I wanted it -- and liked it.

Hi Rose, I was looking at a car mascot site a couple of nights ago which might help with this: http://www.mascot-mania.com/ if you search (box up top centre) for aeroplane or airplane you'll find a lot so there may well be a match there. :)

Thanks Anne....never knew they were called Mascots(?)

I did not find it on the site (maybe I will send them a pic tho...) but I did see that there is a number inside mine.  Looks like BF 16850.  So I did type just the number and found some on Ebay from $9.00 to $75.00 now that I know it has a number on it.

Says from a 1953 Ford Crest line....and most of the 1953's (in the Q and A) on that link.  Referred to as the *ROCKET* type.  I think mine is in better shape than that one...

Took a look there Ann, and just down a bit it looks like mine where it say FORD 1953....He has the same, so it must be right.
