Title: Decorated 'brown' teapot
Post by: Elaine on November 30, 2009, 12:50:14 PM
Hi all,

Just got back from my daughter in Wales, where I took a photo of her 'new' (charity shop) teapot!  It's nice and solid, and she is using it regularly - in fact I had to empty the tea-leaves out to photograph the base!  ;D

It's basically a simple 'brown' teapot, but nicely painted and with gold decorations.  It has 'ENGLAND' imprinted in the base - nothing else - and the painter's / gilder's mark, a letter 'C' and the number 5 31

Anyone any idea of a maker?

Thanks  :)

I think there are a few manufacturers of these but the one's that keep cropping up the most in second hand shops are Thomas Dean's, they usually have a black circular backstamp though.
