Title: Hi - Sheerlite Doulton
Post by: memson on February 02, 2010, 09:37:50 PM
Hello there collectors - I have got a pair of Sheerlite Doulton with the impressed double square  - they are a pale brown colour. They also have a black ink letter S on each base. Does this mean they are/were seconds? Thank you - Matthew

Generally with porcelain, seconds usually have a pottery mark which is crossed out in some way. It's probably a painters mark.

Might the S not stand for Sheerlite, or am I being too simplistic?

Matthew welcome to the board. :)
