Title: Old Pot/Pitcher
Post by: fstws6 on March 01, 2010, 04:36:22 PM
What kind of Pitcher is this ? Water,Milk ? There is no spout on it. Pretty old as you can see the wire cut off marks clearly on the bottom.

Hi fastws6.... I love these types of items.   I have some old crocks and things.  Root around here and try typing in the search engine here of either Stoneware, or Crocks...

Always good reading....

I will do that for sure. Question here do you know or anyone else know if the bottom of this piece is black from being used on a stove or some kind of burner or is it that way from the fired in the kiln after the making . I thought the black bottom was from some kind of stove usage, like an old wood stove. Here is another old pot/pitcher.

see my comments on #2 in your other posting of these items
I forget where it was ....Studio ??
The black looks a bit too even to be caused by wood stove ....doesn't it ? But I'm only guessing I have no experience with wood stoves !!

Well I would like to know what caused all the black on the bottoms. It looks like it is burned on their from heat. I know they were used for some sort of cooking so I assumed it was from a stove ?
