Post by: wiggy131 on March 10, 2010, 11:46:45 AM
Hi does anyone recognize this style of bowl? I am struggling to discipher the words on the bottom.
Thanks again for your continuing help!

B__haus [can't make out the 2nd & 3rd letters clearly enough]
Handarbeit [Handmade in German]
POMONA [possibly the pattern name as Pomona was the goddess of fruit trees]

I don't think it's Bauhaus, which is what Google offers! ::)

Thankyou everyone for looking at the bowl, I'm not convinced of the Bauhaus pottery - the word looks like Burbarl to me???
Thanks

Wild, WILD guess here................But could the last writing be *POROLIA*

Mentions Word Here - POROLIA - CLICK HERE  (http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:2BZ5gAQDP0wJ:ashkenatza.net/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D13%26t%3D435+what+is+porolia%3F&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca).  Scroll down (I used Cache) so the word POROLIA is high-lighted in Yellow down below.

Just a wild guess here.....but IF this was made at a place called that - Would it not make sense that the very last line signed on a piece of pottery would be the LOCATION

???  So maybe of  Jewish descendant??
