No idea what it's for, what it says,or how old it is :hlp:
Keith.
-
Could it be Welsh?
-
Sure I saw something similar, somewhere,in silver and that was from Norway but you never know, any Welshies out there?
Keith.
-
I know Welsh letters have crosses through them i don't know about Norway though.
-
I'm pretty sure the words are Norwegian. bl?d = blood, og = and, but I can't figure out what the whole phrase means... I wonder if it's something from Norse folklore? Perhaps Aine would know... I'll email her and ask.

Hi, gosh, it's ages since I've been here :o
Yes, it's a Nowegian proverb which translates into "Mead and beer give the soul cheer"
The literal translation is "Beer and mead soften willpower" but that sounds very negative and that's not the intention of the proverb.
So , it's a drinking vessel. But that's all I know. Good luck!

Aine, thank you! :kissy: I thought you'd be sure to know what it was all about. It's been ages since we've seen you, hope all's well. :)

Lucky punch, Anne! Sorry I haven't been around; we had a crash and burn situation with the computer where everything had to be re-installed and this forum got lost somehow. I'll just pop off and check the Scandinavian bit..
:)

Brilliant! Thanks Aine. It's such a pain when your PC dies like that... lots of sympathy!

My PC died ages ago,it's just nobody told it!

Hi a40ty: Nice to hear from you, and Glad you understood the wording on there. I thought it had a bit of Native art to it.
Might it be a Serpent -- like the Loch Ness monster?? Or some Folk Lore Monster ?? That is just my guess....
