Hi All, ;D I have purchased this gorgeous bottle vase about 8-9 years ago from a charity shop. Please forgive me as I am a glass collector and not a pottery/porcelain collector. I love the design on this. I found it intriguing as it was from Canada and I am in Australia. It is stamped MCC Canada. I have google MCC and if I am correct it is a design school or shop? I couldn't work out which as the information it brought up was convaluted. Please correct me if I wrong. Any information on this piece would be greatly appreciated. ;D

Forgot...it stands just over 18cm tall and 10cm at its widest... :bzy:
And some more pics...it is very hard trying to capture the signature on the base...

Hi ands welcome to the board, glad to have you with us. To make the mark on the base stand out more I have two suggestions: firstly, sprinkle a little talc or fine cornflour or similar into the mark and gently blow off the excess, that will highlight the marks themselves and make them show uup better on a photo, and secondly, if you have a macro setting on your camera (usually marked by a little flower symbol) then use that to take a picture of the mark with. Focus from around 8"-10" away works well normally, or if no macro, try standing a bit further back (2'-3') and use the zoom if you have one instead. Hope this helps.

Hi there....and I am from Canada. I can not make out the image, as need a bigger pic -- but I am guessing (here) that it might (could) be McMaster Pottery from Canada without seeing (a larger) mark. there is also CCC (Canadian Ceramic Craft company) here.
Is it possible to get a larger pic of the mark......Please? Is it stamped, incised, written, or an ink mark? Please let us know.
Thanks -- hope I can help on this one ;D ;) :)

Hope I am able to help you with this, here in Canada ;D ;) Does your camera have a close up thing?
-
Ok...could only find self raising flour! Which I assume is severely out of date. :24: We don't really use the kitchen in this place.
I think this is better. The Canada i believe is definitely stamped and th MCC has been incised. Hopefully everyone here can tell more about where it was made? Maybe age?
I know value is not important but a rough idea on what it would fetch would be great? More for insurance purposes. I only paid $A1 for it so i assume it might be worth at least a fiver? ;D

thanks for the new pic, and I see the *flour* worked fine....lol
Gee, this is different.....Nothing listed under here: http://www.canadianpotteryidentifier.com/
Hum, I wonder: http://www.civilization.ca/cmc/exhibitions/hist/poterie/po20eng.shtml
Is it more of a granular stoneware item, than a clay? Could it be Roman numerals (MCC) for the number 1200?? I am going to be digging on this one...

Added: Did some more *rooting* around:
I did some more rooting around and did find something that said about being marked with MCC for Mennonite Central Committee. The link did not have anything for it.....but I am going to look around at that lead to see if they made some pottery, and a date.
Not sure yet...but found these sites:

~~ Click here as one of those long link (http://books.google.ca/books?id=OOym6lm2xC8C&pg=PA509&lpg=PA509&dq=Mennonite+pottery+in+Canada&source=bl&ots=pl7WZib_d6&sig=U4paOAhDjZ6Gsku0GE2REzE5Ytc&hl=en&ei=3ovaS7HHJJPENPeN6Hk&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CAoQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=Mennonite%20pottery%20in%20Canada&f=false)

Thanks for the links antique! Your a legend. The glazing does go into the piece as well and it does seem more granular than some other pieces that I have. I will have a look at those links over the next week. As for what the MCC stands for. I am clueless. I have searched a little on and of over the years in regards to this piece but I have turned up nothing. Probably because I my zero knowledge of pottery.
I am extremely appreciative of your help. And it would seem I have peaked your interest?
Odd it should turn up in Australia!
I don't do emotions alot but... :kissy: and  :bzy: Also, your more than welcome to steal the pics if this would help you?
