Title: Studio Pottery - But can't find anything..
Post by: antiquerose123 on May 31, 2010, 01:57:47 PM
Hi, I would have posted this in Studio Pottery, but I do not think this is British -- so I had no where to post there.  You think that this would be an open and shut case since this piece is signed -- but is it Pottery, or could this be a type of chalkware (this post might have to be moved to the other section under Misc).  Seems to be carved out.

Since the item is signed  ANNA BOISE - I have googled that but have not come up with anything related.  Of course, I am still trying (googling) different things too.

It seems to have a *Native* flair/design to it.......

Anyone find anything more that me.....and as stated, still going to be hunting some more here myself.  Thxs

This is an American Indian piece, probably Navajo (as the last name would indicate). This is junk tourist pottery that is industrially cast, purchased and then carved by the person who signed it (in this case probably a very young person or even a child). You can see tons of this stuff on ebay. Often these pieces are far more skillfully and elaborately carved, but even at that, they have no value to any serious collector of Native American pottery. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on this stuff.

Thank you for that info -- it is never bearer of Bad news for me.   :kissy:

I like to buy first, then ask questions on it later.....and most of the items I do find (either with value, or no value) I have paid very little for.  I think I paid on $4.99 for this -- so it is no lost cause, as I have lost that much $$$ when I forget to take my money out of my pockets and throw it into the WASH....LOL.  :24:

I tend to buy the item (just in case) it might be something good.  So not a bearer of bad news at all -- just more info on the Subject......and the Funny thing is, that some people will still pay some $$$ just to use a piece of stuff (or junk) like this to Decorate a home on a Budget.

As always --- One Man trash, is another one Treasure  ;) :D ;D Even for Decorating on a Budget...  lol
