Looked up Royal Granite,zilch! white granite by Meakin but no Royal,the mark on the lid is the pewter makers T Booth :hb: help,please.

Take a look at no.77 - parian ware jug with silver lid marked T.Booth Hanley.

Thanks Anne,it looks like I've the poor man's version,basic pottery with a pewter lid,doubt mine would fetch ?200 plus at auction,never mind,ta,

Yours is nicer than the Royal Granite piece on Replacements, Keith: http://www.replacements.com/webquote/RGQRGQ1.htm

There's no mention of Royal Granite in Godden's British Pottery & Porcelain Marks, Lang's Pottery & Porcelain Marks (either edition), or Lang's Pottery  :-\ despite the entry on Replacements.com... but.... the Blue and White website has a Royal Granite piece attributed to Francis Morley & Co: http://www.blueandwhite.com/museum.asp?m=Morley&p=Fruit+Basket+colour ... which stylistically looks nothing like yours! However, a bit more lateral thinking produced this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tom-margie/3524008048/ which shows a platter marked Royal Granite China which went to the USA in 1773 ... this Royal Granite was apparently made by Rogers Brothers of Longton, but again no mention of Royal Granite in their Godden entry.  :bh:

Thanks for all that work Anne,you're right the one on the first link is awful;the other links are interesting,will have another look at the jug,sure it says Royal Granite,my little book on pottery is woefully inadequate,must get more, ;D
