Title: Japanese Kutani Bowl Help Needed ID Marks
Post by: alfies dad on July 31, 2010, 05:24:10 PM
I think its Japanese Kutani not sure on date late 19th c, or 20th c. Handpainted the bowl feels to be very thin porcellain, mark on base but no idea what this means, I wonder if Keith can get this one?

Regards

Robert.

Hi -
Not sure about the mark, as I have a hard enough time reading English (marks) - and that is my Main language.  Sure there will be someone to help.  In the meantime you might want to browse around on this site -- it is Super!!

Hi,

the mark is upside down in your pic! Actually it just says '9 valleys', the generic Kutani mark. I can never remember the Japanese pronunciation, but Keith will probably know.
