Hi
I am stuck with resarching this item. Does anyone recognize it? I was hopting it was quite old. Could it be English Victorian? Or even Japanese??
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

reminds me of a FOO Dog (Chinese or Japanese, whomever made those) but not sure if made in China, or else where.  With the tongue hanging out - that is what it reminds me off.......BUT more in a whimsical (cartoonist) look...meaning not as Serious looking as the Chinese made the other ones.

He is a Cute little guy... :dog:

He is ceramic, or could he be Chalkware ???  Just a thought...

If i was to give it a discription it would be 'grotesque'. Actually, there were a few potteries in Torquay who used these glass eyes (i presume they are glass) and they were called Grotesque, usually in the form of a winking cat, like this one.... http://www.tennants.co.uk/Catalogue/Lots/88703.aspx

I might be, ahem, barking up the wrong tree though.  :24:

Oh yeah, this reminds me of my cat which i never did identify...

It has the same matt glaze and has gold highlights and glass eyes. Coincidence?
