Title: Scorrier Cornwall Seton Cat Lady
Post by: Kathryn on June 21, 2011, 01:44:09 AM
Hello All,

Can anyone tell me anything about my Scorrier Cornwall Seton Pottery Cat Lady in a dress holding a fish.  She fits in the palm of my hand, so is about 14cm tall is a lovely mottled bluish mossy green and cream color....and a little creepy, weird and cute all in one.  I just got her in the mail and she is safe with my Leaper ponies now.

Just curious what she is, thank you,
Kathryn

Seaton Pottery is in Redruth and apparently sell pottery from different makers according to the web, but I'm not sure if they are currently a working pottery.  I pass through Redruth fairly often on my travels and will make a point of visiting next time just out of curiosity.  They might be able to throw some light on your little cat.

Thank you.  I am not finding much information on the web, except that they made/make a lot of ashtrays and pitchers and other containers for booze. Oh and a small Facebook page of 18 folks who absolutely hated working at the factory!

I have found a page that lists potteries in the Cornish area. The listing for Scorrier says

SETON POTTERY, Scorrier, Redruth Tel: 01209 217262

The page which might be of interest to others is here

A footnote .. she does look a little like one of the character cats of Louis Wain (in my opinion :czy:)
