Surprised Keith didn't get this one... It's Japanese with what looks to be a transfer printed design echoing earlier stencilled decoration. Datewise I'd guess end of the 19th to early 20th century (Meiji/ Taisho ish). These types of items still seem fairly plentiful and are often just given a general 'Arita/ Imari' attribution (but the again, what isn't?)  ;)

I'm afraid I can't add any more as I have so few references covering Japanese ceramics. however a quick google or trawl through ebay should throw up some similar pieces.
