Title: Unusual Handleless Earthenware? Teapot Signed "C.G.T.H" or "C.G." & "T.H."
Post by: ModernMinstrel on September 16, 2012, 01:43:59 PM
Hello.  I recently found this teapot and I have a few questions.  Can anyone tell me what type of clay this is made just by looking at it?  I get confused about these different types of pottery and their textured clays.  Also wondering if this type of teapot without a handle has a name or indigenous to a specific place.  And, of course, I have no idea who made it.  Perhaps someone in the forum will recognize the signature or point me in a direction to find out.  Thank you!

That's unusual.  Did you enlarge the final photo?  The "CG" is right above the "TH".  Spectacles?

It reminds me a bit of the Chinese yixing teapots, but the letters don't fit with that notion....
