Hi Julie, I believe this is the mark for F. & R. Pratt & Co. - see here:

Thank you so much for the fast response!

It's given me a good starting point. Googling with the right name I see other pieces with the same design. Thanks.

I notice Patricia Coccoris has identified these are being from Wardle pottery (p. 154 of her bulb vase book). Did Wardle have anything to do with Pratt? or is that just a mistake? I did look at the site you gave the link to and I don't see any mention there.
thanks

Hi Julie, The Wardle marks I'm aware of are shown here: http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/w/wardle.html and they are quite different from those of Pratt. However, both Wardle and Pratt were, in the early 20th century, part of the larger Cauldon Ltd. (later Cauldon Potteries  Ltd. and later still taken over by Pountney & Co. Ltd. of Bristol.)

Thanks Anne, that's interesting. I've had another look at the picture in the book and it looks as if both the Pratt and Wardle marks were on the base. My vases only have the Pratt discobolus mark.
