Title: SylvaC frogs and lizard pot
Post by: ju1i3 on January 09, 2013, 08:06:09 AM
I have a SylvaC pot with a lizard and 2 frogs on it (attached). I was surprised to see this one on ebay with different frogs on it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SylvaC-Very-Large-Planter-Bowl-with-2-FROGS-NEWT-Signed-SYLVAC-WARE-No-468-/330852033164?pt=UK_PotteryPorcelain_Glass_PotteryPorcelain_China_SM&hash=item4d0851628c

Actually know I notice it's a different pot shape and colour.

Does anyone know anything about these and the variations? thanks

TC has a useful book on Sylvac, so he may be able to tell you more when he pops in next, Julie. :)

Number 468 is similar to number 469. They were made in different sizes. I think the frogs and lizards were hand painted and stuck onto the bowl, so they probably will look slightly different.

I was lucky enough to find the smaller 469 on ebay recently so now I can compare the two in detail. I think the painting on the 469 is much better, especially the frog. The ledge for the lizard is too small or the lizard is too big but the ends of all 4 right legs (ie on both pots) are slightly chipped.
