Hi, I have what looks to be an old, quite thick earthenware oval plate & jug with very worn cream-colour glaze and with some gilding. Thre are no other marks than 1618 R painted on the bottom of the plate and, what looks like RA, AA, M or W painted on the jug. Can anyone tell me the manufacturer and a possible age? Cathy

Hi Cathy and welcome to the board. This might be a toughie unless someone recognises the pattern. Without a maker's mark of some kind I think we'll struggle. :( The numbers / letters could be either a pattern number or the number of the worker who decorated it.
I'm trying to figure out what the pattern is but I can't make it out clearly enough - can you get a sharp close-up shot of the pattern please? If your camera has a macro or super macro setting then that should help us see it more clearly. Then some searching for keywords is possible if we know what to search for. :)

That's fab, thanks Cathy, Let's see what we can find now. :)

The pattern looks familiar to me, but cannot remember where I saw it and who made it.

Meakin was one of my thoughts too Keith, but I couldn't find a match on the Meakin site here: https://sites.google.com/site/meakinchina/Home - unless I missed it. ;)
