My other half's mother's sister has this tea service and has no idea where or how old the set is and asked my other half for help with the ID and age of the set.
I unpacked a cup from the set to see if I knew anything, to me it looks like Japanese eggshell, but I am probably incorrect!
Any help in finding out where it is from and the rough age would be most appreciated, then I can give them back the set.

Eggshell is translucent if held up to the light, very thin, the mark says 'maru-i' meaning round or circular, looks like 1920-30,maybe newer, difficult to tell, ;D ;D

Thank you Keith for the reply and information, yes it is translucent, so definitely eggshell.
I will forward the information on to Pearl and give her the set back tomorrow.
Many thanks again.
