Title: ID for this Serpent/Dragon bowl & cup please. Masons/Spode/Davenport??
Post by: hog-man on November 13, 2013, 04:04:23 PM
Hi guys,

We recently got this bowl and coffee cup in a mixed lot at auction and, having done a little research (especially having seen http://www.rubylane.com/item/287127-RL551x2ea1446nye/Early-1800s-English-Porcelain-Green), we're wondering if they might be early Mason or possibly Spode or Davenport? Each piece is decorated with blue Chinese serpents or dragons with gilt detailing and the bowl is just under 6 1/2" in diameter at the rim and 3" deep. No maker's marks!

Any ideas about the maker, age etc would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation, John.

I think most of the major porcelain companies marked their pieces. However, there are many, many companies out there that might have made it. Quite love the cup.

Thanks Carolyn,

I have now listed the bowl and cup on eBay (item numbers 231097723615 and 370945732260) and will be keeping my fingers crossed!!

Cheers, John.
