Title: is there any hope for this pot?
Post by: ju1i3 on November 12, 2015, 11:54:51 AM
I'm wondering if anyone knows the best way to mend this pot? It's been in the garden and a crack was visible but had not broken apart (until my husband decided to move it). One seller on ebay, ages ago, mentioned swimming pool glue that would be waterproof. I never followed it up but can do. Has anyone tried that or can recommend something that they have used successfully?  The pot is about 22 cm tall and about 34 cm wide. thanks!

Julie, there is an adhesive designed for ceramics that I have used successfully to mend broken pots where the break is clean and there are no bits missing. It's a 2-part glue called Araldite Super Ceramic & Glass. (I've not tried it on glass!) and is available in hardware shops or online: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARALDITE-RAPID-CERAMIC-GLASSS-ADHESIVE/dp/B000WA7RMM

There is also a handy page here explaining how to repair ceramics:
http://www.lakesidepottery.com/Pages/Pottery-tips/epoxies-vs-cyanoacrylate-super-glue-crazy-glue-ceramic-china-repair.htm  and they have a page about different adhesives here:

Good luck!
