Hello there:
Found this lime Green monkey ( holding a baby Monkey ) and it is marked MADE IN ENGLAND, It looks to be OLD as the glaze has crackle in it. I thought maybe Sylvac because of the color but not sure. It is about 8.50 inches tall and about 4.50 inches wide. So not too small. Anyone have any ideas at all.
Thanks :sta4:

Brain foggish this morning, but you know the place that made the little figurines for putting in tea boxes and all? Not sure of the size of this one, but it makes me think of them. Blast, what is that name.... :hb:

You mean Red Rose Tea figurines ?? Wasn't that Wade? Not sure if Wade made bigger things like this ?????
........This is almost 9 inches tall.....LOL.....I do not think it would be in a tea box!! :hby:

We might need TC and his Sylvac book...
-
9", that's a lot bigger than I had realized. No, I don't think it is Wade (although that was the company whose name I was trying to come up with). Now there's another one, does a lot of horses and stuff, Beasley, or something. Sorry, not being much help, but at least I'm keeping the conversation going LOL
How's life in 'Stoon?

Was it Beswick you were thinking of, Carolyn? I think TC has a book on them as well...
-
LOL...I have no idea. I have a Beswick dog here ( German Shepard ) but the glaze is not crackled on it like this Monkey. My first thought MIGHT be Sylvac due to the color -- but I am having NO HITS at all.
=====>>>>>> TC is he around and his books ....???
......OH and here is a base pic IF that helps any. ??? :x-fingers:

Yes, Beswick is what I was thinking of.
TC, oh TC....
-
I couldn't find it in my Beswick, Wade, or SilvaC books.

Hiya TC, good to see you back. Hope you are OK? Thanks for checking those books... have you any suggestions where to look next for this wee thing?

These kind of things were popular in the 1950's mainly due to SylvaC but it could have been made at any time really. Melba Ware and Price Bros are just two that i know of but i don't think they ever made monkeys.
