Title: Alan Clarke

Alan Clarke is one of many ex Poole pottery designers who have gone on to meet new challenges.
His tiny studio in Stoke on Trent is producing pottery to a higher standard than His former employers have in recent years and with a far smaller budget.
I visited Alan at his studio a few months ago and the tiny shop/studio combined with the very welcoming manner of Alan and his staff made for a very enjoyable visit and a great learning experience.
Despite a demanding workload,Alan talked us through the whole process of producing his pottery,i was amazed that when you buy an Alan White Studio pot it is actually made by him. Many designers never get their hands dirty,a fact that left me feeling cheated when i bought my first Sally Tuffin pot only to find out later that it was only made by some unknown worker.
