Title: Wemyss biscuit barrel
Post by: josordoni on October 04, 2007, 04:50:16 PM
I thought we weren't really putting too many pots up - we keep chatting too much!

so here is one of my latest acquisitions, a lovely Wemyss biscuit barrel.  Only one small filled chip to the rim (which I shamefacedly admit I missed....no wonder I got it cheaper than I thought..... :ft: :ft:)

She certainly did!

I had a little plate not long ago, that I was shocked how much it went for!  It was only teeny...

But they are very decorative... if you like that kind of thing.  This is in very good condition really, it is not unusual to find them with cracks chips etc. Like majolica and delft, the glaze is very thick and tends to get damaged and flake away easily.

So I paid a premium for this, as I hadn't noticed the damage.... hopefully, I'll get my money back.... :hb: :hb:
