Title: Wall Pocket - "ORR"
Post by: antiquerose123 on October 16, 2007, 01:46:10 AM
Hi, I have this little wall pocket for flowers that came from the farm.  It has just been around forever there.  It is marked with a incised mark that says:  ORR, and that's it....

I g@@gled around, and am aware there was a GEORGE OHR (note spelling) that made pottery, but to me, this wall pocket says ORR not OHR.... ???  I have looked at it a hundred times....I hope you can see the mark in the pic..

Anyone know anything on this?  Is there an ORR pottery person, or does anyone have any ideas?  I do know it's been at the farm since I was little (that is the 60's  :-\ ).....so I do believe it to be that era....

Any information on this?  I posted it here, as I did NOT know where to post this ?

I would say that perhaps it was a local studio piece; it's very simply made, just clay rolled out onto hessian and the curled into a pocket. Trade directories from the 1960s might be your best bet.

Where would that be...you mean just locally?  I it looks so simple, but then if has that *quirkey* look to it....

Hi Rose, look at your pot as a piece of clay...... and now... unroll it, .....does it look like it was a flat piece of clay ? if yes, then a local maker, as i see load's of pieces like this, normaly by student's learning how to use clay........if that makes sence ???
