A door wedge would be too obvious (and you'd need a big gap under your door for that!), so I'm guessing it's a lever type wedge, perhaps used for sticking under a pot when you want to tip it over? No idea where it might have been used.... unless it was in a certain glassworks, perhaps...? ;D :bny:

A clever guess, but not right. Not even warm. Will leave this one running until tomorrow evening, when I will reveal the answer. It's certainly not something you will see very often. Emmi

Good morning.......puzzling isn't it? Interestingly when I bought it some 30 years ago, I was in my decoy duck collecting phase so your comments Rose, made me smile as I too likened it to a weird duck. BUT....it's not. I do know exactly what it is, so I am not stringing you along. BTW, do you want any clues yet? Emmi

Something to do with a loom or weaving? ???
-
Clever Christine....yes it is, but can you be more specific of its use? Emmi
-
For pushing the strands closer making them tighter?
-
Yes it is. I call it a weft basher. I bought it in Turkey. Was on a sailing holiday and moored up at a small island off the coast. Just a couple of rug making families were the inhabitants, but unfortunately I was not smitten with their rugs, rather touristy garish colours. I came across a pile of old tools and this was among them. My "duck fetish" at the time drew me to it, so bought it so I did not leave empty handed. I bought two of them, but nasty ex husband decided to add one to his stash, even though he scorned my purchases at the time! Oh well, that's a long story and I don't want to go there thank you very much!!! So congratulations to Sue and Christine........and to Rose for first mentioning a tool....hope you didn't mind me doing this, but felt a bit mischievous last night!! Emmi
