Hi Rose, this statue is called the sacred heart of jesus, catholic families would have had one in the home as mine did, Italy is a very catholic country and would have produced lot's of them, here is a site selling religious items www.inhisname.com/category.php?cat=Statues&page=2

THANKS Sue C
Yes, I am Catholic myself....This was given to my dad when he was in the hospital for 2 years. He passed away in 1977, so I guess this one would be about 30 years old. I imagine it was purchased somewhere locate, that sold religious items here.
The age of mine can be documented as I have a pix of my Dad in the hospital, and this was on the stand by his bed. So it does have some age on it....whomever made these types back in the 70's.....????
I wonder whom made these earlier....??

GOD KNOWS?? I think we have to put the earlier (1960s-1970s) pieces down to tourist's, but also imported to other countries.
