Title: Is this Vallauris, and who is he?

Hi, I have this wall piece with two tiles, it' racked in a wooden frame so I don' want to get the tiles off. It' signed what looks like Vallauris. I googled for this name but can' seem to find anything about this person. Who is he or her?

Vallauris is an area in the south of France,Pottery has been produced there by dozens of small potteries for the last 250 years.

Ok, Now I understand a wee bit more thanks all. I read even Picasso stayed there. Thanks for the info all.

Picasso produced pottery there,also Guy Sydenham and Tony Morris took glaze from Vallauris in the early 60s which ensured the success of the Poole pottery Delphis range.

Hi Orpheus

Vallauris is a town in the Alpes Maritimes - South of France, where Picasso and many others worked.  Some potters signed their names, but many items were just signed by the town name. There are still potteries there, but the majority cater to the tourist trade.  Hope this helps! :)

Try Googling the words Roger Capron,Robert Picault,Jean Gerbino & Clement / Jerome Massier.They all are associated with the area of Vallauris (Golf Juan).

Madoura is the name of the Vallauris pottery that produced Picasso's ware.

Hi Pete

Just a quick note on your FPP Vallauris.  Stands for Faiences et Poteries Provencales.  Pottery created in 1950 closed 1967. Run by Jean Rossignol and Joseph Calvas-Blanchon.
