Title: Roger Cockram 3D Fish Bowl
Post by: Elaine on August 19, 2007, 04:47:15 PM
This beautiful bowl was very difficult to photograph!  The glaze is an amazing rainbow of colours, which seem to change as the light catches it.  The underneath of the bowl is very beautiful as well.  The fish is in 3D, in the act of leaping out of the bowl!  Stunning!

It's signed on the back by Roger Cockram and has the initials RC and his mark pressed into the base as well.

Wonderful ! I have often been tempted to buy his pots but the ones i have liked best were always three figures.

Ooops!  Misspelled his name!  Of course, it's CockraM with an M at the end, not ain or aine  ::)

Yep, Dan.  This one was in fact three figures  ;)

Superb! Can anyone tell me more about the potter please? I've not heard of him before.

I bought this piece at the Affordable Art Fair (for any given definition of 'affordable'  ;) )  but Cockram has a website.  It's http://www.rogercockram-ceramics.co.uk/  I'd love more of his work!

I was told by a dealer that Roger was a marine scientist before becoming a potter and his accurate depiction of marine life would point to this being true.
