Two things, but nothing valuable.

Which reminds me, i have this Rye jug and a few others things with the same pattern. What i can't fathom out is why the pattern closely resembles items that of which i have seen with "made in Vietnam" stamped on the base. :-\

Ohh that's a very jolly jug, TC.
I wonder if the designs appeal to Vietnamese taste and have been imitated?

I'd suggest the other way round. What you have seen would be imitations of the British pieces, made cheaply to flood the tourist areas. A lot of the time these pieces were comissioned by British wholesalers to be made by the cheapest way possible, and it was (and still is) far cheaper to have goods made in the Far East and shipped halfway around the world than to have them made locally.

I was interested to see the Rye miniatures on the link Anne posted. I have a miniature Rye jug, which lives in the curio cabinet I inherited from my much-travelled great-aunt. I have always wondered if it was possible to date it, as some of her curios are possibly up to 100 years old.

Gosh that *is* small Leni. :o

Just love that speckled glaze. The jug's probably 1890-1910(ish).

Holy Cow - is that ever a *small* jug..... :o
