I don't know, it has 'Celtic' impressed on the base and dragons on the side so I presumed it was made by Celtic Pottery.

Here are the first three Celtic Newlyn Pieces from my collection.
The steam trawler is an early design.

The Newlyn Celtic Pottery used stickers as shown earlier in the thread and also a letter on earlier pieces denoting the decorator i presume?

Ooooh i think i have a stickerless trawler in the celler ;D

Thanx Dan 8)
Keep it safe, they are the best design.
I read recently that Celtic has out performed all the other collectable potteries percentage wise for the past two years.
Personally i think there has been a lot brought out of Cellars recently and sold on ebay,as a result the market has stalled a little.

Thanks Pip,
That is much better. I have no more bulls but here's a goat pulled out of the ashes of Vesuvius in Herculanium.

They only used sticky lables so this is often the case but definately medalion range and an unusual shape!

Thanks, er, I threw it out because it was badly cracked. My mum bought it, she usually buys stuff she knows nothing about and 5 times out of 10 she comes back with a major bargain. Shame it's cracked though.  :(

She never used to be interested very much in collectables but now she is the same as me. It must be in the genes as my father has also taken an interest too.  ::)

When I come home I have to sift through the stuff they bring back. Things like converted lamp bases, portmeirion mugs, Eric Leaper animals & portuguese hand vases.

Dan how many letters have you come across? - I have only seen B and S and they appear to be below the glaze and the S appears in an intense blue clour wheras the B is not coloured.

I love that colour glaze - it is just like the Madoura Picasso oxidised paraffin - do you think it is created by the same method?
