Hi,
Many people do not realise that, like many things, there are periods of production of Viners items, inwhich the items vary, allowing a collector to put a label, almost like first edition on the cutlery.
For example, 1st production run items from Viners "Studio" range actually carry the word Studio, stamped in block capitals, on all items except knives. Likewise the knives themselves are etched in a tradition font, whereas latter versions have a very modern looking font etched on the blade. Later knives, tend to be much lighter than the original production run, and it is not insignificant that the quality of the stamping on the handles of all pieces is much less refined than the earlier items.
Originals were made in Sheffield, later ones in either Korea or Japan, as the company eventually became part of Oneida.
Regards,
Marcus
