Whilst in town yesterday I spotted a rustic-looking jug marked on the bottom Moira Pottery Made in England and Hillstonia. I've never heard of them, but an eBay search brings up two of the same jugs
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230167685707 and

I don't particularly like them, but was curious if anyone knew anything about Moira Pottery? The second sale link also has an oval-shaped scroll-ended bowl like the one my mother keep in their kitchen as the dog's water bowl, so it'd be interesting to know a bit more to tell her when I see her next.

I don't know much about them but these jugs are very common. I think Frank mentioned he had a Moira catalogue or something. :-\

Thanks TC, I'll ask him what he knows about it. :)

I used to get quite a bit of this Hillstonia in Oxfam - it turns up a lot in all charity shops (though I've never seen the Moira bit). It tends to sit on charity shop shelves for quite a while, even when very cheap. :boohoo:

Thanks Sue, I'm not surprised it's hard to sell really, as I don't like it even though Mum does. :24:
