Hi - I have this bowl, and I do not know ??? what you would call the shape, but is it Chinese or Japanese? Would anyone know the age, value, info on this. It appears to like enamel pixs on it, and with some high gold on it. It is about 6 inches high, and wide with the scalloped edges...
If ANYONE :pst: can help me on this with any information, that would be great. I have already looked at the Chinese/Japanese sites that you have posted here, but I am still NOT sure :hb: , nor do I know what it says on the bottom....
Help...... :hlp:

Also dont forget that Meissen and Worcester used mark's similar to chinese symbols, and so did Samson.
-
Really :o...others markers used marks similar to Chinese symbols ??? I didn't know that. Honest, I just thought the chinese used their own symbols ONLY. GREAT to learn more, and the benefits of this forum ;) I wonder if there are more *dummies* like me that never knew that...gosh  THANKS..

Here are a few examples of Pseudo Chinese seal marks.
http://www.chinacupboard.co.uk/sealgp.htm
Imitation marks were also made by Caughley, Derby, Miles Mason and others.
If it has an orange colour around the unglazed area of the foot rim I would say that it's probably Chinese.
-
Need clearer pics of the mark, though I can make out what appears to read 'Zhongguo', so definitely Chinese.
-
I'd say Chinese, the mark that looks like a box with a line down means China(the seal mark is upside down) the bottom left means 'made' and is used in Chinese and Japanese,Keith.

Better Pics added.....Did not forget :24: some many years later.....LOL
