Hi, I just bought this on card. It is an Xmas card with some Embroidery on it, and what looks like a piece of something that looks like Mother-of-Pearl (MOP). I think it SURE is PRETTY. It is also from around here, and I am wondering if it may be Victorian (?)....Paid a dollar for it. ;D ;D
If it is victorian -- even the little bit there of Embroidery there (I am sure) would make it worth more than a dollar, IF I re-sold, I think..... :tup3:

Hi Rose, I have some like this which my grandpa send my grannie for birthdays and Christmas. Looking at the text inside, which is letterpress printed I would say, I'd not think it was as old as Victorian. Mine are 1930s-1940s, and I'd think yours was probably the same sort of date or even a little later perhaps.
One way to pin it down would be to try and find out who Joseph Kotelmach was - if he was sending out personalised Xmas cards he was probably well-off or well-known. A Google for his name brings only one result - for a man in Saskatoon, which sounds very hopeful - he is shown on here as a member of the Church of the Holy Apostles SS. Peter and Paul: http://www.skeparchy.org/parishes/Saskatoon%20-%20Ss.PeterandPaul/text1.htm
You may be able to find out more about him from your local library or newspaper archives.
