Title: What is this?
Post by: Tigerchips on March 21, 2010, 06:50:07 PM
I really don't know what this is. It's marked 'GC .925'. It looks suspiciously like a gold colour, not silver. Could it be solid silver and plated in gold? Maybe the tarnish has turned it gold? Or perhaps the mark is meant to be misleading so someone like me comes along and buys it, lol.

Could well be gold plated silver TC... have you checked through http://www.925-1000.com/ for a match for the mark?

I would think that it is 925 silver too with that mark.  I wonder IF it is (maybe) a thing to hold a scarf around your neck....or a ring that does open like a little belt?

Does it fit a finger TC?

The edges are sharp so i don't think it was used as a ring. A scarf ring maybe.

That would be my guess -- but then I could be wrong too...lol

But wait -- the circle stays a circle -- and the little belt thing comes off, so why would the belt thing come off, when the scarf could just go through the circle thing??

Maybe not a scarf thing.....Hm-m-m-m-m-m (???)

Too small to be a pony tail ring?

It's about one inch diameter.

Not a pony tail ring. :P
I've had a look in my Millers books but can't find anything useful.  I did find a piece of jewellery on an American site by just googling GC.925.  It was for a sterling silver pin.  Still can't find out what the GC means tho.
Might be worth taking it in to a local jeweller's shop and asking.  I've always found them really happy to help with ID or to confirm whether something is gold/silver etc.

Thanks, good idea about the search thingy, i actually found something.

If it's authentic, it's made by Guess Inc (or one of it's side companies) and is from the Guess Collection (GC).

http://www.gcwatches.com/#/GB/collections/

I couldn't find any on ebay but the Gc rings usually retail at about £70-£100. So all things well and if it really is a ring, it might sell for £20 (each), if i ever sell them, that is.  ;D

Judging by the other rings, I think it's solid silver and gold plated.

WTG...  :cheerleader:

But I think anything by GUESS has some collectible value, and unique with the little belt on it.....and it is SILVER some should have a bit $$ to it.

Wonder if that company would be able to date it?  As Anne said *Now cracked* on this one... :tup3:
