Hi
Here is a picture of an interesting lamp, would welcome any input from anyone ! I believe it is made of alabaster with a marble base. Or it might be alabaster too, in a different shade. I have looked around websites a bit but I haven't been aable to find one exactly like it. I think its probably Italian, does anybody agree or have seen one similar ? It works very well, but I am looking for a shade.
Happy hunting

Hi there, beautiful lamp.
It is not a frosted glass, or a acrylic is it? I do not know my alabaster that well -- as the things that I have are sort of a *Pink* color.
Is there no printing of any sort on the light housing at all? Or a patent number there? May give some leads.
Very nice, looks Deco-ish to me... ;)

Hi
Thanks for reply - definitely not plastic, weighs a ton ! I researched the material when I got the lamp and it is a sort of veined alabaster, a tip I will pass on is that alabaster is porous so you shouldn't clean it with water - my lamp was very grubby - but with a liquid soap mixed with white spirit. Apparently the gazelle was all the rage in the 20's and 30's as a decorative motif, I saw loads of gazelles on items but never on a lamp. I do enjoy this lamp, its my favourite right now. No makers marks that I can see.
All the best

You should give it a few coats of wax polish to protect it and give it a good shine. Put on quite thick, and after dried out buff each coat with a soft cloth.
I would expect top part of the shade to be a hemisphere and fairly easy to have a replacement made.
