Title: ALERT: Two antique Japanese ivory figures stolen from gallery in Lancashire

POLICE are appealing for information after two valuable works of art were stolen from the Art Gallery at Booths supermarket in Lytham on Monday (16th July).

The offence happened about 2.30pm at the store on Haven Road when a man, acting as a genuine viewer, has forced open a glass display case and stole two antique Japanese ivory figures.

The carvings date from 1868 to 1912 and are from the Meiji period. Figure one is described as a fisherman with a net and figure two as a geisha woman with parasol.

Police want to speak with the man captured on CCTV shortly before the theft took place. (See website link above for CCTV pics.)
