Title: Cut glass/metal lamp base
Post by: Tigerchips on January 03, 2008, 08:26:21 PM
Does anyone know who made this and where it might come from?

I assume it's an oil lamp font and that there isn't a hole right through the glass.

No holes except the one on top. I think the metal part has been painted gold but it has lost it's colour throughout the years. It has numbers moulded on the bottom of the base '4847'.

It's an oil lamp base. I would say it was probably bronzed and maybe Art Nouveau/Deco rather than Victorian. The crystal Victorian oil lamps in Silber and Fleming are much more traditionally cut. French perhaps - Fleur de Lys?
