Blue porcelain duck

Anyone any ideas about this porcelain duck please?  It has really nicely moulded feet and teeth, and it even has a little tongue.  Only one foot can be seen, but if you turn it over, the other hidden foot is there, which is a nice touch.  Unfortunately no markings, but I've seen something vaguely similar, although a different type of bird, described as "oriental".  So, is it Chinese/Japanese, or something else perhaps?

DUCK WITH TEETH -- YIKES   :24: That is a scary thought...

To me, he looks like one of those dinosaur birds with teeth -- I forget what they are called, Platosauras or something.

Could he be that....(?)

Ducks don't really have teeth, but serated edges so that they can grab hold of things to eat  ;D  but my duck has a nice pair of evenly spaced dentures 8) Probably easier to mold to give the impression of saw-edged teeth.

Duck with dentures... I love that idea!!! :24:

No idea who might have made this but colourwise it appears to be a match for a swan which my mum had for a while - I think it got broken - but it was that same colour, but was hollow so could be used to keep things in. She used it for stuff in the bathroom - cotton wool or suchlike I think.  That was unmarked as well sadly, so it doesn't help pin down who - but it was very well moulded too.

Thanks TC ;D  :beer: That's the link I saw which made me think my duck could be oriental too.  The head is very similar, and although I can't make out the feather pattern as clearly as I would like, I think that too is very similar.

I thought Chinese as soon as I saw that particular shade of turq blue. I saw a Foo Dog in it yesterday. 
I also just remembered that I had a parrot figure in this colour, identified online as Chinese Export porcelain which I have since realised has a more specific meaning than would appear.
So does majolica but you would think so the way it's stretched to breaking point on the interweb.
Anyway Chinese definitely. Period ? is a different story.
My parrot was actually more of a parrot-like mythical dinosaur-era creature with a strange beak like thing sticking out the back of its head as well as a more normal curled parrot like beak at the  front. It didn't look as odd as it sounds and didn't have teeth but it did have a tongue !!!!
The naive look of this duck also harks backwards in time ....I wonder ....
Foo Dogs were certainly popular in Victorian times, maybe mythical parrots and naive ducks too ....???

Interesting sounding parrot :o  I see quite a few of those Foo Dog figurines around and I always think of them as being bookend.  I just wonder if they are still being reproduced?
My duck has now flown the coup and has migrated to warmer climes ;)  Not as naive as he looked  :24:
