Vase-Lots of Marks, Can't figure it out --YET (?)
« on: August 24, 2010, 02:16:31 AM »
Hi, I bought this for $1.  It appears to have lots of marks on it but I am not finding anything.  It looks like the name *Lang* in a couple places, plus a name (??) Mill.  It also says *ENGLAND* on it.

It is like a ribbed design going down it, then has some flowers on edged with Gold Paint (or something).  It is quite pretty.  There are other marks on it, but have not been able to figure them out.  I also dusted it with powder, but nothing popped out an clearer for it -- so I will just post 2 bottom shots to try to help.

I note that it just says ENGLAND, not Made in England -- if that means anything...as I am not sure how old it is...

Any ideas, as I am lost on this one -- even though it has lots of marks.... :-\

It's Lovatt, Langley Mill Pottery, Rose:

 :tup3: :tup3:  WTG - Anne !!!

You are spot on.  In the first link that you gave me there, if you scroll down to about the Middle of the Page -- There it is -- EXACTLY !!!   It says there that it has a date of 1923, and the Pattern number IS #2078.  See the larger pic here from that first link.

Anne -- You Rock !! :rocker:

Wow -- I never realized it was that old.  It is just shy of being a 100 years old -- and it is in MINT Shape.......and got it less than $2.   :cheerleader:

On the second link, if you go here:  http://www.langleypotterysociety.co.uk/lovattandlovatt.html  you will see that it shows another one there called "BLOSSOM WARE" circa 1906-1930.  So mine might (??) date even sooner than what the other link said of 1923.  It could be from anytime between 1906 - 1930, so it could be a true Antique.

I just never knew !!  It never looked that old to me because of the style.  I am just floored !!!!

Thank you Anne  :kissy:
